things have always more than one aspect
but most of them are hidden
often we only see a small part of the whole image
if we can open our mind and try to discover different points of view
we can live a happier life
it can brighten our day

 

the unique shape of these pieces of cutlery confuses you
or maybe makes you smile
it is more than cutlery
there is a connection to your emotion
you can play with it
… but in fact it is not more than just cutlery

LOD 15 år, det firar vi med att visa jubileumsutställningen i Örnsköldsvik

Från vårt lilla galleri på Kungsholmen, med symboliska platser för fikat, middagen, köket och sommarbjudningen, har jubileumsutställningen fått oanade proportioner och blommat ut i en konsthall. Tack alla på Örsnköldsviks museum som hjälpt oss att göra en så orimligt vacker, rent funktionell och lustfyllt surrealistisk utställning.

Om ni är i Örnsköldsvik med omnejd, kom! Utställningen pågår till den 31 januari 2015.

Klara Erikssons Columbi Ägg, bunke av silver premierades med Design S 2014

Design S är Sveriges nationella designutmärkelse och delas ut vartannat år av Svensk Form. Svensk Forms nationella designutmärkelser omfattar Design S, där 10 formgivare och företag premieras med utmärkelsen, och Ung Svensk Form.

Här följer juryns motivering: Perfektion i utförandet, överraskande användarvänlig och funktionell. En värdefull manifestation över tiden som begrepp. Signalerar närvaro i, och värdet av vardagens enkla göromål. Vi vill ha den och därefter låta den gå i arv.

Design S Awards presenteras på Arkdes, Skeppsholmen. Utställningen pågår till den 8/1 2015.

Exhibition in Tokyo, “Creative Spiral Project”

Maki Okamoto will take part in an exhibition in Tokyo. The group exhibition is organized by Tokyo Zokei University, the school where Maki took a BA in sculpture. This exhibition is a part of a project called the “Creative Spiral Project”.

The exhibition runs from 23 November until 2 December 2014, at the Kuwasawa Design School in Shibuya Tokyo, Japan. A symposium will be held the 28th, where Maki will be one of the speakers.

Extract from the project description:

An artist cannot show her idea to an audience without the use of material. Which material should be used? What tools are needed, and how should the work be constructed? These questions are always a part of the artistic process. Many artists worked with these questions, and developed many different solutions. These solutions have grown to become the variety of artistic techniques we have today.

At this exhibition, we have focused on the relation between techniques and expression. We are showing the work of six artists; Youhei Imamura, Yuichi Enomoto, Maki Okamoto, Yuko Someya, Yuichi Higurashi, Keisuke Yamamoto. (Translation by Maki Okamoto)
