Exhibition in Tokyo, “Creative Spiral Project”
Maki Okamoto will take part in an exhibition in Tokyo. The group exhibition is organized by Tokyo Zokei University, the school where Maki took a BA in sculpture. This exhibition is a part of a project called the “Creative Spiral Project”.
The exhibition runs from 23 November until 2 December 2014, at the Kuwasawa Design School in Shibuya Tokyo, Japan. A symposium will be held the 28th, where Maki will be one of the speakers.

Extract from the project description:
An artist cannot show her idea to an audience without the use of material. Which material should be used? What tools are needed, and how should the work be constructed? These questions are always a part of the artistic process. Many artists worked with these questions, and developed many different solutions. These solutions have grown to become the variety of artistic techniques we have today.
At this exhibition, we have focused on the relation between techniques and expression. We are showing the work of six artists; Youhei Imamura, Yuichi Enomoto, Maki Okamoto, Yuko Someya, Yuichi Higurashi, Keisuke Yamamoto. (Translation by Maki Okamoto)

LOD firar 15 år!
– Omöjligt vackert, rent funktionellt och surrealistiskt lustfyllt
På vernissagen bjuder vi på bubbel och tilltugg. Speciellt för dagen har LODs sju medlemmar tillverkat 10 unika cocktailpinnar av silver till de 70 första gästerna, att äta med och ta hem.
Vi visar en utställning med silverkorpus som berättar om mat och silverföremål som vardagsglädje.
Under 15 år har LOD skapat unika föremål och smycken. Vi har drivit en verkstad och ett galleri, ställt ut våra verk ute i världen och bjudit in konstnärer att ställa ut hos oss.
Utställningen pågår till den 1 november 2014.

Välkommen på vernissage kl 12-16 söndagen den 21/9 i Göteborg.
Hur fungerar ett handgjort silverföremål i vardagen? Vad betyder måltiden och de redskap du använder i köket för dig? Hemma hos Sara-lo i Göteborg bjuds på en interaktiv performance där du vispar pannkakor i en silverbunke och äter med skedar utan handtag.

At home with – How to scratch a silver bowl, Klara Eriksson
How does a hand made silver object work in everyday life? What does the meal and the tools you use in the kitchen signify for you? You are invited to an interactive performance where you have the opportunity to whisk pancakes in a silver bowl and eat with spoons without handles.
